The second story happened at my first year in university. A life without a dream is like a bird with broken wings, confined to a cage and oblivious of what lies beyond the range of its vision. On the contrary, a man with a dream is like a warrior armed with ambition, foresight and gallantry, daring to step into an unknown domain to make a journey of adventure. It is dream that adds fullness, variety, and spice to our life and makes it worth living.

I would like to take Liu Xiang as an example.Liu,as the first chinese man to win an Olympic track and field medal,dreamed of defending his Olympic title on home soil.To achieve this dream,he was bathed with sweat on the training ground every day.What’s more,now and then he suffered injuries.However,neither the injury nor the pressure has prevented him from striving to achieve the goal.Eventually,he kept or even renewed his record in the men’s 110-meter hurdle with his perseverance.

It is true that barriers may sometimes stand in the way of your dreams,but remember success is hiding behind them.Instead of making dozens of excuses for your failure,just think about Liu Xiang’s story,hold on your dreams and never give up.

If you do not want your dreams to come to naught,then hold fast to your dreams and never give up.Just as the saying goes,”Do not,for one repulse,forgo the purpose that you resolved to effect.”

If you can do the following points,your dreams will come true one day.First,plant your dream in a fertilized soil.Second,water it with your diligence and give it the best food----knowledge.Third,remove the seeds of unhappiness for they can destory your dream.The most important is let the seed of your dream enjoy the beautiful sunshine,so what it can grow well.And however hard the situation is,o not give it up and always give it your best care.Then you will get a good harvest in the end.

some of you already know, that it’s hard, it’s not easy, it’s hard changing your life. that in the process of working on your dreams you are going to incur a lot of disappointment, a lot of failure, a lot of pain. there are moments that you are going to doubt yourself. you said, god why is this happening to me? i’m just trying to take care of my family, trying to give them a good life, i’m not trying to steal o-r rob from anybody. why does this have to happen to me. fo-r those of you that have experienced some hardships – don’t give up on your dream.

the rough times are gonna come, but they have not come to stay, they have come to pass. greatness, is not this wonderful, esoteric, illusive, god like feature that only the special among can achieve. it’s something that truly exists, in all of us. it’s very important for you to believe that you are the one!

most people they raise a family, they earn a living a-n-d then they die. they stop growing, they stop working on themselves, they stop stretching, the stop pushing themselves. then a lot of people like to complain but they don’t wanna do anything about their situation. a-n-d most people don’t work on their dreams – why?

1. is because of fear, fear of failure “what if things don’t work out“?

2. is fair of success “what if they do a-n-d i can’t handle it?”

these are not risk takers

you have spent so much time with other people, you have spent so much time trying to get people to like you, you know other people mo-re than you know yourself. you’ve studied them, you know about them, you want to hang out with them, you want to be just like them. you’ve invested so much time on them, you don’t know who you are. i challenge you to spend time by yourself.

it’s necessary, that you get the losers out of your life, if you want to live your dream. but people who are running towards their dreams, life has a special kind of meaning. when you become the ‘right-person’, what you do is you start separating yourself from other people you begin to have a certain uniqueness, as long as you follow other people, as long as you are being a ‘copy-cat’, you will never ever be the best copy-cat in the world but you will be the best you can be!

i challenge you to define your value.

everybody won’t see it, everybody won’t join you, everybody won’t have the vision…it’s necessary to know that you are an uncommon breed. it’s necessary that you align yourself with people a-n-d attract people into your business, who are hungry, people who are unstoppable a-n-d unreasonable, people who are refusing to live life just as it is a-n-d who want mo-re!

the people that are living their dreams are parting with winners, to attach themselves to the a-n-d the people who are living their dreams are the people that know that if it’s going to happen it’s up to them!

if you want to be mo-re successful, if you want to have a-n-d do stuff you never done before then i’m asking you to invest in you! someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality. you don’t have to go through life being a victim. a-n-d even though you face disappointments, you have to know within yourself that ‘i can do this, even if no one else sees it for me, i must see it for myself!’

no matter how bad it is, how hard it gets, say to yourself, i’m going to make it!

i wanna represent an idea. i wanna represent possibilities. some of you right now, you wanna go to the next level. you wanna be a civil engineer, you wanna council, you wanna be a doctor.

listen to me: you can’t get to that level. you can’t get to that level until you start to invest in your mind.

i dare you to invest in your mind.

i dare you to invest time. i dare you to be alone. i dare you to spend an hour alone to get to know yourself. i challenge you to get to a place where people do not like o-r do not even bother you anymore. why? because you’re not concerned with making them happy anyway. because you’re trying to blow up. you’re trying to get to the next level. because you’re investing in your mind.

if you’re still talking about your dream a-n-d your goals but you have not done anything just take the first step.

you can make your parents proud, you can make your school proud you can touch millions of people’s lives a-n-d the world will never be the same again because you came this way. don’t let anybody steal your dream!

after we face a rejection a-n-d a “no” o-r we have a meeting a-n-d no one shows up, o-r somebody says “you can count on me” a-n-d they don’t come through, what if we have that kind of attitude that cause reposes, nobody believes in you, you’ve lost again, a-n-d again, the lights are cut off but you are still looking at your dream, reviewing it everyday a-n-d saying to yourself: it’s not over until i win!

you can live your dream!

你用了太多的时间去跟随别人，花了太多的心思让人们认可你、喜欢你，你对他人的了解胜过了解你自己，你会琢磨、探究他们的心思，你想跟他们聚在一起，你只想跟他们一样，因为你在他们身上投入了太多，你都忘了你自己是谁，你能不能自主支配你的时间?

你不需要一辈子被旁人所左右，即便你自己遭遇种.种挫折，你要确信，我可以克服，即使没有人看好我，我自己要清醒看到!不管过程有多么的曲折、艰辛，你都要对自己说，我会走到终点!我想实现自己的想法、探索各种可能性，你们在座的有些人想进入更好的层次：有的想当律师，有的想成为土木工程师，有的想当医生。我想说，你进不了那个层次，除非你开始投资你的头脑。你要投资于你自己的头脑，你要投入更多的时间，你要学会与自己相处，每天花一个小时来了解你自己。你要去他人不喜欢或打扰不到你的地方，因为你将不用再费心去取悦他们，你要力争上游、进入更好的层次，你要投资给你自己的头脑，即便你每天大谈自己的理想抱负，但你什么也没做。

I am grateful for the opportunity to deliver my speech here after 7-days’ preparation with my friend Jinly. Thanks to Jinly’s strong support in our work. I think it is my way of saying thank you to you that giving an excellent presentation to all my friends here.

The subject of our presentation is “YOUR DREAM & YOUR GOAL”. During the next 10 minutes, we’ll give you a brief explanation of these stuff at the best of our knowledge.

First of all, I’d like to spent 3 or 5 minutes on discussing about the dream. When we were 5, they asked us what we want to be when we grow up. We answered like superman, princess, or in my case, a sailor moon. When we were 10, again they asked and the answer was policemen, doctors and some other high-principled jobs. But unfortunately, we finally found our dreams unrealistic as we entered a not so good high school, did not so good school works and went to a not so good direction in our life. I guess, many of you have thought about changing your dreams, but finally felt at a loss again. Yep! We’re adults and they are waiting for a serious answer. Well, how about this? WHO THE HELL KNOWS! Dream is only a dream. It’s unnecessary for us to think over our dreams all day long. You know, dreams always change, and this is not the time to make difficult decisions. But what do dreams do? Why do we still have an urgent need of dreams?

Think about it: do you have had a time when you were full of happiness just because you have made an achievement that pushes you a bit to your dream? Do you have had a time when you insist on what you were doing even the tears keep falling from your eyes? That is the power from dreams! May I equate the faith and the dream here? As we all know, aims and dreams are far from each other to some extent but close to each other on the other hand. Just like the parabola and the number line in mathematics. But it is the dream that help us to map out our aim and work out plans one after another in our life. Just like what Howard Schultz, the founder of the Starbuck said, Dreams are like the stars----we never reach them, but like mariners, we chart our course by them. And I believe that if you have a dream and make efforts step by step, some of you may extremely finish the quantitative change on the way to success and reach the qualitative change!

I would like to finish my part by a tongue twister: Whether the weather be fine or whether the weather be not. Whether the weather be cold or whether the weather be hot. Well weather the weather whether we like it or not. Whatever you dreams are and however difficult it is to realize them. Reach your aim step by step and I believe your dreams will extremely come into truth!

通过几年的教育实践，我真实地感受到——当老师，能使我的人生充实，精神愉悦，使我感到高尚。因为教师是太阳底下最光辉的职业，托起的是明天的希望。每当我看到自己与学生们一同成长，就有一种成就感。是的，我们甘为人梯，吃也清淡，穿也素雅，面对大千世界，我们心怀淡泊，像春蚕，像蜡烛，在平凡的工作岗位上，用青春和生命谱写无怨无悔的人生。虽然平凡，我们的脊梁却支撑着祖国的未来；虽然清贫，我们的双手却托举着明天的太阳。

4、我选择我追求

弹指一挥间，五年的岁月就在绘声绘色的讲课声中，就在埋头批改作业的笔尖，就在上课铃与下课铃的交替声中滑过。

还记得，小的时候，“老师与学生”的游戏是我的最爱。

还记得，上学以后，能歌善舞的老师就是我心目中的天使。

还记得，中学毕业时，志愿栏里毫不犹豫地写下“师范”。

往事一幕一幕。

15岁，我背着行囊走进师范。在那里，严谨的校风，严格的基本功训练，让我明白了教师这两个字眼的深刻含义：“学高为师，身正为范”。

18岁，我带着一脸稚气走进这所学校，满腔热情地融入到与我年龄相仿的学生当中。望着那些在教育战线上呕心沥血几十年的老教师仍孜孜不倦，看着他们青丝变白发仍两袖清风，我突然特别深刻地理解人们为什么总是这样描写教师：“捧着一颗心来，不带半根草去”，“春蚕到死丝方尽，蜡炬成灰泪始干”。

我深深地知道：作为教师，光有奉献是不够的，振兴民族的希望是教育，振兴教育的希望在教师，特别是世纪之交的青年教师，我们要有一种紧迫感、使命感，必须不断学习，与时俱进，开拓创新，学习新知识，掌握新技能，以适应社会对我们提出的越来越高的要求，从1999年至今，我走过了我人生不平凡的五年。

曾先后两次参加县英语汇教获二等奖。并取得了全国高等教育自学考试的大专文凭。20xx年5月我被评为“全县模范青年团员”。去年，参加全国成人高考，被三峡大学成教院英语系本科录取。最重要的是去年8月，我以全县第四名的成绩被录用为正式编制教师。

大家上午好！今天我演讲的题目是《青春在这里闪光》。

有人说儿童是一本书，虽然要读懂这本书并非易事，但要成为一位出色的教师就必须去读它，并且打算读一辈子。也有人说，儿童是花木，教师是园丁，园丁悉心照料着花木，但需要尊重它们自然地成长。实际上，儿童比花木要复杂的多，教师的工作也比园丁的工作复杂的多，尽管他们拥有着共同或共通的规律。

当我真正走上工作岗位时，我发现，我不是学者，不能用深遂的思想思考我的价值；我也不是诗人，不能用优美的诗句讴歌我的职业。但是，我是教师，一名从事教育事业的工作者，我可以深深思索推演心中最奥秘的哲理；我也可以采撷如花的词句，构筑心中最美好的诗篇——我爱我平凡的事业，我愿青春在这片热土中闪光！正如泰戈尔所说：花的事业是尊贵的，果实的事业是甜美的，让我们做叶的事业吧，因为叶的事业是平凡而谦逊的。”当我每次面对孩子们时，我感到神圣与自豪，因为我从事着绿叶的事业，我是人民教师！

今天我演讲的题目是《让青春在教育岗位中闪光》。青春是人生最铿锵的篇章，青春是旭日东升力量，是一种精神，是激情，是无私奉献，是辛勤耕耘。青春让我们用微笑面对成长的喜悦与艰辛。去年的九月，带着我的青春，一腔热枕与执着的追求跨入了教师的行列。在自己平凡的工作岗位上奋斗着，努力着，付出着，同时也收获着。收获着成功的喜悦、经验、教训，更饱尝了工作当中所有的酸甜苦辣。作为教师，就注定了要淡泊名利，像春蚕，像蜡烛，用青春和生命谱写无怨无悔的人生；作为教师，就注定了要一生平凡，用爱心和耐心去培育祖国未来的花朵。为了这神圣的职责，我要让青春在平凡的岗位上闪光。

德兰修女曾经说过，我们都不是伟大的人，但我们可以用伟大的爱来做生活中每一件平凡的事。记得去年刚踏上讲台那一刻起，面对40多个可爱活泼的一年级孩子，不但要保证他们的安全，更要让他们学好知识。这让我倍感压力。开学的几个月以来学生状况百出，有打架受伤偷东西的，有破坏公物不听管教的，有天天欠交作业还强词夺理的等等，特别是我班一个女生，被数学老师天天投诉不交作业，还被同学发现她偷了别人的东西不归还还与别人打起来。在我耐心教育之后，稍微有点好转，没过多久又重蹈覆辙，不仅偷了别人的作业本，还写上自己的名字交上来，甚至把别人高分数的试卷改成自己的名字，联系家长得知在家也经常偷钱。面对这样一个如此令人头疼的学生，我并没有放弃她，我相信“没有坏学生，只有教不好的学生”。于是，

自己反思了一下这段时间以来的对她教育，确实是忽视了。加上对她家庭状况做了了解，发现她不仅是个留守儿童，每天回家都要走很远的路，家里经济条件差，特别羡慕别人能买许多好玩的东西，加上有时在学校还会遭到同学的冷眼和鄙视，所以导致了许多不良行为的产生。于是，我开始对症下药，先是跟她进行谈话，告诉她是非对错，让她觉得老师并没有把她当成“坏孩子”，让她感受到我的关心和爱护。然后让班干部在学习上多点帮助她，感受集体的力量。慢慢的我看到了她的进步，并在班上鼓励她，赞扬她。虽然学习上还是跟不上，但至少我看到她在课堂上能勇敢的举起了手。时不时还会听到她批评其他孩子：“吴老师说不能总是说人家的缺点，要多点表扬别人。又或者是：吴老师说不能随便乱拿别人的东西，快还给别人吧”真的是功夫不负有心人啊！看到她改变过来的那一刻我心里有种说不出的高兴。

一位哲人说过“教师的爱能使犯了错误的学生重新振作起来，教师的爱是用深情融化学生心灵上久积的坚冰，教师的爱是打开学生心灵的密匙”。其实每个孩子都像天使般，都有他们可爱的一面，我们不能一味地去定义他们的好与坏，而是在平时给予学生更多的耐心和爱心，用我们平生的知识去引导，去传道授业解惑。我相信再难的问题都会迎仍而解。

路在我的脚下才刚刚开始，在一次次的付出中，并不是所有的付出都得到回报，在失败的迷途中，我怀疑过自己的选择是否正确。然而，当清晨走进了校园，面对一声声清脆的问候“老师，您好”；当走进圣洁的课堂，看到一双双渴求知识的双眸，一张张天真烂漫的笑脸，一个个生龙活虎的身影；当夜深人静时，欣赏学生们饱含激情的话语，享受学生那真诚的“劳动”果实，我又是那么激动，那样满足。人的生命是有限的，而我的事业是常青的。假如有人问：如果在人生的道路上再有一次让你选择的机会，你会选择什么职业？我一定会高声回答——教师，这个太阳底下最光辉的职业。我无悔于我的生命，更无悔于我的选择。在三尺讲台上，阅历春秋，辛苦耕耘着，用我的爱心、诚心、细心、耐心、恒心去换取学生的开心，家长的放心和祖国的振兴。让我的青春在我的教育生涯中继续闪光，直到永远！

It is such an honor and pleasure for me to be back at Yale, especially on the occasion of the 300th anniversary. I have had so many memories of my time here, and as Nick was speaking I thought about how I ended up at Yale Law School. And it tells a little bit about how much progress we’ve made.

What I think most about when I think of Yale is not just the politically charged atmosphere and not even just the superb legal education that I received. It was at Yale that I began work that has been at the core of what I have cared about ever since. I began working with New Haven legal services representing children. And I studied child development, abuse and neglect at the Yale New Haven Hospital and the Child Study Center. I was lucky enough to receive a civil rights internship with Marian Wright Edelman at the Children’s Defense Fund, where I went to work after I graduated. Those experiences fueled in me a passion to work for the benefit of children, particularly the most vulnerable.

When I was thinking about running for the United States Senate-which was such an enormous decision to make, one I never could have dreamed that I would have been making when I was here on campus-I visited a school in New York City and I met a young woman, who was a star athlete.

I was there because of Billy Jean King promoting an HBO special about women in sports called “Dare to compete.” It was about Title IX and how we finally, thanks to government action, provided opportunities to girls and women in sports.

So, dare to compete, yes, but maybe even more difficult, dare to care. Dare to care about people who need our help to succeed and fulfill their own lives. There are so many out there and sometimes all it takes is the simplest of gestures or helping hands and many of you understand that already. I know that the numbers of graduates in the last 20 years have worked in community organizations, have tutored, have committed themselves to religious activities.

Community service and religious involvement being up. But if you look at the area of voting among 18 to 29 year olds, the numbers tell a far more troubling tale. Many of you I know believe that service and community volunteerism is a better way of solving the issues facing our country than political engagement, because you believe-choose one of the following multiples or choose them all-government either can’t understand or won’t make the right choices because of political pressures, inefficiency, incompetence or big money influence.

Well, I admit there is enough truth in that critique to justify feeling disconnected and alienated. But at bottom, that’s a personal cop-out and a national peril. Political conditions maximize the conditions for individual opportunity and responsibility as well as community. Americorps and the Peace Corps exist because of political decisions. Our air, water, land and food will be clean and safe because of political choices. Our ability to cure disease or log onto the Internet have been advanced because of politically determined investments. Ethnic cleansing in Kosovo ended because of political leadership. Your parents and grandparents traveled here by means of government built and subsidized transportation systems. Many used GI Bills or government loans, as I did, to attend college.

Now, I could, as you might guess, go on and on, but the point is to remind us all that government is us and each generation has to stake its claim. And, as stakeholders, you will have to decide whether or not to make the choice to participate. It is hard and it is, bringing change in a democracy, particularly now. There’s so much about our modern times that conspire to lower our sights, to weaken our vision-as individuals and communities and even nations.

It is not the vast conspiracy you may have heard about; rather it’s a silent conspiracy of cynicism and indifference and alienation that we see every day, in our popular culture and in our prodigious consumerism.

And I leave these graduates with the same message I hope to leave with my graduate. Dare to compete. Dare to care. Dare to dream. Dare to love. Practice the art of making possible. And no matter what happens, even if you hear shouts behind, keep going.
